Why I do what I do

Careers matter. I enjoy mine – and I want you to enjoy yours too. That’s why I do what I do, helping people build their careers and navigate career change with confidence, focus and purpose.

How I got here (my own career transition)

On Message started as a side-hustle in 2020 to help others (and myself) through the turbulent economic times of Covid-19. I enjoyed what I was doing - and I've continued to do it.

For me, coaching and teaching is a happy ‘coming-together’ of many different aspects of my career.

  • I love coaching, training and teaching.

  • I know what makes careers and workplaces thrive. I've learned a thing or two in a career that's involved 11 industries and organisations from multi-nationals to private businesses to government organisations to charities.

  • I’m a connector and a communicator. I've spent 20 interesting years in senior communications roles.

  • I understand what it takes to transition a career. (I started my working life as an economist!)

Here’s my LinkedIn profile.

I’ve been where you are

I’ve navigated redundancies, extracted myself from career dead-ends, reinvented my career several times. I’ve learned a lot along the way!

It’s not all about work

Outside work I’m happiest on my bike, in the garden or the bush, with my nose in a good book, or enjoying the company of good people (and Momo the cat).

As a volunteer, I’ve been a proud mentor to some awesome young women. I’ve helped Bike Auckland spread the biking word. And I'm a dab hand at dishes at social enterprise Everybody Eats.
